How it works

1. You submit a clear photo of a hand doing anything you want. Yes, anything. (Well, anything but THAT!)

2. The first WEEK, I’ll attempt to complete 2 paintings, then 3 in a week, then 4, then 5! That is one painting per day. (I really have no idea if I can do this.)

3. If I select your hand to paint, you get dibs on the finished painting for less than a week of groceries. There is no obligation to buy at all. I really just need your hand photo!

4. Don’t want the painting? No problem. I’ll build this as a collection.

  • A GREAT quality photo. This can be taken with your modern phone or camera and submitted digitally. It MUST be in focus as I need to see the details. Multiple submissions are encouraged - but I will only select one per person.

  • The world is your oyster.

    Photo should be well-lit, in focus, no filters.

    Your hand can be open, closed, holding something, action photo, what ever you like. Send it.

  • I need to push myself to do something I feel is very important. SPEED (without sacrificing detail and quality). My goal is to teach myself how to find the most important part of the painting and focus on that with the incredible detail that I am known for. I feel that I spend too much time focusing on ALL of the details. I need to narrow it down a bit.

  • 8” x 10”

    Orientation will be based on composition.

  • Probably yes. I will crop, adjust color and work with the photo to create a great composition. I will be focusing on hands and not backgrounds.

    These are not commissions. I retain ALL creative direction.

  • Nope!

    New hands, old hands, clean, dirty, scarred, black, white, red, yellow - ALL ethnicities EXTREMELY encouraged.

  • I’m sorry but no. In order to put these works back into your hands for less than a grocery bill, I am not having a professional photoshoot done of these final works.

    Keep an eye out for greeting cards however!

  • Ahhhh - great question!

    This is all about connection! I really want us to connect with each other and that‘s why I want you to submit your photo. It also helps me be a bit more spontaneous and not get bogged down in conceptual photography.

  • Yup! $125 for the painting, add $50 if you want a frame. Free shipping in the USA. (International shipping additional). But you have to claim it within 24 hours of my completing it. It will come to you once it is dry and varnished (please note that this could take a month. Thick oil paint dries slow!)

    One of my goals is to put high quality original works in the hands of people that wouldn’t normally collect art.

    If you don’t want the finished painting, no problem. There is no obligation to buy it. It will go up on my website for $250 plus frame and shipping.

    There will only be 14 selected for this project.
